Obama Calls Kanye A “Jackass”

September 16, 2009

President Obama called musician Kanye West a “jackass” during an interview Monday with CNBC, an ABC News anchor reported to his followers on Twitter. But the tweet caused some red faces at ABC, and the network soon apologized for publicizing what had apparently been an off-the-record comment. “Pres. Obama just called Kanye West a ‘jackass’ for his outburst at VMAs when Taylor Swift won. Now THAT’S presidential

Kanye West Apologizes on Jay Leno

September 15, 2009

Jay Leno premiered his new television show, “The Jay Leno Show,” on NBC on Monday night, and Kanye West appeared, apologizing for the third time for upstaging Taylor Swift last night at the VMAs.

“It’s been extremely difficult, I’m just dealing with the fact that I hurt someone,” West told Leno.

“I only wanted to help people, my entire life, I always wanted to give and do something… I immediately knew in this situation that it was wrong… It was actually someone’s emotions that I stepped on. I’d like to be able to apologize to her in person,” he went on to say.

When Jay asked what Kanye’s mother Donda, who passed away in November of 2007, would have thought of his behavior, Kanye paused for a very long time, and then answered, “Yeah, obviously I deal with hurt and so many celebrities you know, they never take the time off, I’ve never really taken time off. … I’m just ashamed that my hurt caused someone else’s hurt.”

He added that what he did was wrong and he wasn’t going to try to justify it, and also said, “I need to, after this, take some time off and analyze how I’m going to make it through the rest of this life, how I’m going to improve. If there’s anything I can do to help Taylor in the future, to help anyone, I’d like to.”

After speaking with Jay, Kanye took the stage with Jay-Z and Rihanna for a performance of “Run This Town.” Others appearing on Jay’s first episode included Jerry Seinfeld.

During her thank you speech Kanye West stole the mic from her and said “Beyonce should have won because it was one of the best videos of all time”. This left Taylor and the crowd in shock, until her fans stood up and cheered for her. The camera went to Beyonce and her lips said “Oh my God, Kanye!”

Fans of rapper 50 Cent may soon want to pay their respects as the Hip Hop mogul says he no longer wants to be addressed by that moniker.

In a recent interview, Fif says that since he is no longer part of the circumstances which created the “50 Cent” persona, he would now start going by his birth-name Curtis Jackson.

“The aggression that translated the strongest in my first album is what hip-hop culture looks for. It’s a persona,” Jackson explained when asked about his decision to revert to his own name.

“I’m not under the same circumstances I was under when I worked in music, so it feels completely different.”

Early on in his musical career, Jackson adopted the nickname “50 Cent” as a metaphor for “change.”

The name was derived from Kelvin Martin, a 1980s Brooklyn robber known as “50 Cent.”

Jackson chose the name “because it says everything I want it to say. I’m the same kind of person 50 Cent was. I provide for myself by any means.”

Rapper Jay-Z held a news conference today (August 31) to formally announce the “Answer The Call” charity concert that will take place at Madison Square Garden on September 11 to raise money for the New York Police and Fire Widows’ and Children’s Benefit Fund.

“This all came about September 10th, 2001. I was in Los Angeles shooting a video. The album was to come out the next day. On that day, I got a phone call and a friend of mine said, ‘turn the TV on.’ I turned the TV on and I saw the World Trade Center on fire,” Jay-Z said. “It looked like a movie to me — it didn’t look like anything that could be real. The last thing I was thinking about was the album. The first thing I thought about was, ‘What happens from here? What happens tomorrow? How will this continue?

“I turned the TV on September 12th and I saw footage of these heroic actions, people running to buildings and saving each other and I saw the strength of New York,” Jay-Z, born Shawn Carter, continued. “It made me proud. So, as I was embarking on putting out ‘Blueprint 3,’ it was only right that we revisit that day. This is my chance to do something to help out.”

As previously reported, Jay-Z’s latest album, “Blueprint 3″ will be released on the same day.

In attendance at the news conference were New York Governor David Patterson; Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer; Stephen Dannhauser, President and CEO of the New York Police and Fire Widows’ and Children’s Benefit Fund; NYC Fire Commissioner Nicholas Scoppetta; MSG Entertainment President Jay Marciano; Mike Bair, President of MSG Media; Jay-Z’s wife, singer Beyonce; and Warner Music Group’s Executive Vice President Kevin Liles, who moderated the panel.

The event, sponsored by Absolut Vodka, Roc Nation, Live Nation, Citi and Fuse TV, will be televised live on Fuse at 9pm EST on Sept. 11th. All tickets will be priced at $50, with 100% of the proceeds from ticket sales and concert merchandise going to New York Police and Fire Widows’ and Children’s Benefit Fund. Reality TV star Kim Kardashian has an unlikely coach preparing her for the launch of her first perfume -
she’s signed a deal with 50 Cent’s fragrance company.

The Keeping Up With the Kardashians star will compete with with an endless line of celebrities from Britney Spears to Pamela Anderson when her new scent hits shelves next spring (10).

However, Kardashian insists her as yet unnamed fragrance will be unlike other A-list endorsements, after inking a deal with the rapper’s company, Lighthouse Beauty – which will also market and distribute a line of 50 Cent-inspired colognes later this year (09).

She tells Women’s Wear Daily, “What’s so different about their approach is that they have worked so closely with me on all aspects of my fragrance, the bottle, the juice…so I can develop a product that truly represents me and speaks to my fans….the fragrance really captures who I am.”
